Heart Fire Eastern Therapies – FAQs

  • How does Acupuncture work?
There are many answers to this question, from it causing an electrical nerve impulse, triggering a response in the fascia, causing the brain to trigger hormonal releases to name but three. In truth I believe that it all depends upon the site and depth of needle insertion. Having experienced it working and having successfully applied it many times I simply accept that it does, and this is the most important fact.
  • Are there age limits?
There are legal requirements for children and young adults. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and sign a letter of consent. From ages 16 to 18 a letter of consent is required, it is advisable for the parent to be present, but not legally required.
  • Do the therapies hurt?
As a rule, no! I can take you to a measured level of discomfort in-order to trigger a healing response. This is never done by accident though and we work together to manage the outcome.
  • Can I mix different therapies?
Yes, I have found that my therapies are excellent when combined to work on the body’s different levels.
  • How many treatments do I need?
That depends upon many factors including the nature of the condition, how long you have lived with it, will you allow your body healing time and how willing you are to take the advice offered. Ultimately everybody heals in their own way.
  • Is acupuncture safe?
Yes, I am fully trained with many forms and use only sterile needling techniques. A needle is blunt and thinner than a human hair with insertion taking less than a second.
  • How will I feel after treatment?
Normally relaxed (as if a weight has been lifted from you). For deep treatments you may feel tired. The important thing to remember that the next 72 hours after treatment is when your body heals. You may experience tiredness, some discomfort and feel a little subdued. Drink lots of water, it is a natural part of the healing process.
  • What issues can be treated?
Anxiety, stress, pain, fertility, insomnia to name but a few issues. I have a treatment modality to cover most conditions. If I cannot treat you, I will try and refer you to somebody that can!
  • I am nervous about having a treatment, can I bring a friend or family member?
Yes absolutely. The clinic is large enough for somebody else to maintain social distancing and enjoy a coffee or tea. The only precondition is that all mobile devices be set to silent, and that they respect that this is your therapy time and give you the space to heal.
